Summer camps offered for athletics, science, music, technology and arts
Goshen College will offer a number of summer camp opportunities on campus for youth of all ages interested in athletics, science, music, technology and arts. For many of the camps, Goshen College will provide transportation between Elkhart and Goshen, as well as meals, and cost waivers for eligible households. Rompiendo Barreras Para Un Futuro Mejor (high school Spanish-language camp)*
Edades: 9 – 12 grado

Los campistas latinos/latinas/latinx aprenderán inglés, aprenderán sobre la cultura y las costumbres de los Estados Unidos. También recibirán apoyo y participarán en la exploración de la comunidad local. Evaluaremos el nivel de inglés de cada estudiante que ingresa al programa y lo ubicaremos en la clase que mejor se adapte a sus necesidades. Este campamento se ofrece para estudiantes latinos/as en los grados 9 al 12, cuyo idioma principal es el español.
Piano Camp*
Ages: 4th – 12th graders
Dates: June 12-17, 2022
Times: 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Piano camp offers pianists the chance for an in-depth immersion into piano and music study, culminating into two public performances of piano solos and duets: one performing on the historical grand piano at the Ruthmere Historical Home in Elkhart, and the other in the Goshen College Music Center’s Rieth Recital Hall. The camp will feature a guest artist who will give a masterclass for campers and present a public recital. Daily activities include private lessons, masterclasses, duet coaching, music theory and keyboard skill classes, dedicated practice time and social time. Campers must have at least two years experience and currently in piano lessons.
Learn How to Build a Computer
Ages: Girls, ages 12-15
Dates: June 20-23, 2022
Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Cost: $50
This camp is for girls who want to learn how to build their own computers. This is a three-day workshop with active learning and guided construction on how to build a computer. Limited to 10 attendees, the workshop will have the students learn about and reassemble the esports computers. Each participant will receive a certification of completion, which also indicates they have passed the assembly and parts identification assessment.
GC Men’s Basketball Hoopfest
Ages: High school boys basketball teams
Dates: June 24, 2022
Times: All day
Cost: $150 per team, $125 per team for more than two teams (ex. JV, Freshman, etc.)
This is a one-day high school team camp for any boys basketball program, big or small and will follow a shootout format. It will give teams and their coaches opportunities to build chemistry and get a jump start to the 2022-23 season.
GC Women’s Basketball Hoopfest
Ages: Girls, 9th – 12th graders
Dates: June 25-26, 2022
Times: 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Cost: $250 (one team, one day), $450 (one team, two days or two teams, one day), $850 (two teams, two days)
This is a high school team shootout format. Each day will allow teams to play against various competitive levels. Included is either a one-hour situation tournament to allow for work on competitive end game scenarios (Saturday) or a series of three-point, free throw and other shooting competitions coaches can enter their players in for a chance to win awards (Sunday). The games are each officiated by high school officials, and each team is guaranteed three games in addition to the other competitions.
ECoSistema Music Camp*
Ages: 4th – 9th graders
Dates: June 30-July 1, 2022
Times: Overnight
Cost: $50
Young musicians come together for a two-day residential camp to take part in orchestra rehearsals, small-group instrumental rehearsals, team-building activities, meals in the college dining hall, an overnight stay at GC and a final public concert in the state-of-the-art Goshen College Music Center.
An Introduction to Programming
Ages: 11th and 12th graders
Dates: July 11-15, 2022
Times: 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Cost: $50
Campers will spend a week learning computer programming language. In one week of this introduction to computer programming, students will learn enough about a specific language to create simple tools.
Club COE (Character over Everything) Sports Camp*
Ages: 2nd – 5th graders
Dates: July 18-22, 2022
Times: 12-4 p.m.
Cost: $50
Youth have the opportunity to participate in athletic activities and drills. This program will help campers to build self-confidence, social skills, and character building, in addition to furthering students’ passion for sports.
Junior and Teen Indiana Master Naturalist Summer Day Camp
Ages: 9-15
Dates: July 18-22, 2022
Times: 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Costs: $100
This weeklong summer camp features various nature topics for local youth to discover Indiana’s outdoor world through hands-on activities, outdoor investigations, volunteering and learning from local experts. The camp is hosted at Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center of Goshen College in Wolf Lake, Indiana.
ETHOS Lab in a Bag STEM Camp*
Ages: 3rd – 6th graders
Dates: July 25-28, 2022
Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Cost: $50
The ETHOS Summer STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) camp is an experiential and hands-on week-long summer camp. Students will be exposed to a range of activities and challenges that help them to learn, play and connect STEM to the real world. During this camp, students will develop their ‘STEM’ or problem-solving mindset, develop their confidence and work with children from different age groups.
GC Women’s Basketball Elite Camp
Ages: Girls, 11th – 12th graders
Dates: July 31, 2022
Times: 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. (Optional campus tour at noon)
Cost: $45
This camp is designed for elite-level high school girls looking to play college basketball. Players will meet the entire GC staff and team, listen to tips on how to navigate the recruiting process, engage in a question and answer session with the GC athletes, demonstrate their skills during stations run by GC players, and compete in games for the GC staff and other evaluators who will be in attendance.

Dates: August 14, 2022
Times: 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. (Optional campus tour at noon)
Cost: $45
This camp is designed for the up-and-coming high school players interested in learning what it takes to play college basketball. Players will meet the GC staff and players, listen to tips on how to navigate the recruiting process, engage in a question and answer session with the GC athletes, demonstrate their skills during stations run by GC players and compete in games for the GC staff and other evaluators who will be in attendance.
