Patty Hartshorn hired as new director of health and wellness and Title IX coordinator
Goshen College recently hired Patty Hartshorn as the new director of Health & Wellness and Title IX Coordinator. In this position, she is instrumental in overseeing student services and ensuring the school’s legal compliance, bringing her expertise in higher education administration to the forefront. Hartshorn began her work in June.
“We are excited to welcome Patty to the role,” said Gilberto Perez Jr., dean of students and vice president for student life and Hispanic serving initiatives, “because of her wealth of experience in these areas. Patty is motivated to create health and wellness programming that impacts student’s well-being.”
Hartshorn holds an associate’s degree in biblical studies, a bachelor’s degree in biology and literature, a master’s degree in English, a master’s degree in academic advising, a graduate certificate in higher education administration and an education specialist degree in educational leadership with a focus on student affairs. She is currently working on her doctorate.
Before joining Goshen College, Hartshorn was the director of Restorative Justice and Title IX coordinator at Western Colorado University. She also served as co-director of the Center for Civil Rights. Previously, Hartshorn was an admissions counselor and primary designated school official at Northwest Technical College, where she assisted international students in navigating their education in the United States, advised students on enrollment processes, promoted campus community and student engagement, and planned recruitment activities and special events.
Hartshorn’s tenure at Bemidji State University saw her in various roles, including as a success coach for first-year students and student support specialist for the School of Graduate Studies. She played a pivotal role in recruiting for graduate programs, advising students and enhancing communication and marketing strategies. During that time, Hartshorn also served as an adjunct instructor in public speaking at Oak Hills Christian College.
Perez Jr. further described her as “a systems change innovator, who is already bringing creative ideas to our health and wellness area.”
