Untitled Project: A New Musical is a student-written, one-act play premiering during Homecoming Weekend 2024. Created by Víctor Vegas and Fatima Zahara, this musical explores themes of self-discovery, creativity and the pressures of perfectionism.

Amy Budd, associate professor of theater and the show’s producer, said, “We are thrilled to present this premiere work to returning alumni and our community. Goshen College Theater emphasizes the vitality of student voice. We encourage all students to develop a sense of artistic purpose guided by the college’s core values.”

Set against the backdrop of an aspiring artist’s inner world, the show delves into themes of identity, ambition, and the fear of failure. With humor, emotion, and catchy songs, the characters wrestle with their dreams and insecurities, learning that the process of creation is just as important as the final product.

Meredith Blossom, the director and a senior English and theater double major, said, “This new musical urges you to listen to and seek out the quiet moments in life as well as the loud, and understand what it means to be a human in process: emotionally, creatively, spiritually, and in relation to the people around you from connections old and new. I am continually impressed and inspired by the creative visions of my peers Fatima and Víctor, and I’m so excited to be able to present this new collection of stories and identities to an audience.”

With just one act, Untitled Project promises to deliver a heartfelt, thought-provoking narrative, while offering audiences an intimate and impactful theatrical experience.
