Stegmann leads a musical journey on guitar during Jan. 18 Afternoon Sabbatical
Stegmann has taught classical guitar to Goshen College students as well as members of the wider community since 1994. He performs recitals throughout the northern Indiana and northern Michigan area and entertains at weddings and private and corporate festivities.
In 1998 Stegmann was appointed music departmental recording engineer in addition to his teaching duties. Since then, he has produced many fine recordings of various festivals, concerts and recitals.
A reception will follow the program.
Future programs in the Afternoon Sabbatical series:
· Feb. 15, 1 p.m., Sauder Concert Hall – “From Player to Podium: My Transition from Clarinetist to Conductor” with Dr. John Graulty, associate professor of music and director of the Goshen College Orchestra and Wind Ensemble
· March 15, 1 p.m., Sauder Concert Hall – “Islam: the Trauma of Modernity” with Marlin Jeschke, professor emeritus of philosophy and religion
· April 12, 12 p.m., Church Fellowship Hall – International Lunch: the Maasai of Kenya with President Emeritus Victor Stoltzfus and guests
· May 10 – Day trip to Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center of Goshen College
· Aug. 20, Bus trip to The Lion King
· Sept. 16-18, Theater trip to Stratford, Ontario, Canada
Goshen College’s Afternoon Sabbatical program is in its 26th year of offering rich diversity in programs for the community. A committee of area representatives and college personnel look to the wealth of knowledge and talent at Goshen College and among Elkhart County citizens and selects programs that will appeal to a wide variety of interests. Programs have an integral connection to the college, either through subject matter or in ways in which the campus and community are interrelated.
