Mother-daughter duo to present a musical sampling in Nov. 11 Afternoon Sabbatical

A mother-daughter duo will provide musical samplings from a variety of genres, including musicals, sacred and popular, during the Afternoon Sabbatical performance on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at 1 p.m. in the Goshen College Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

A 1974 graduate from Goshen College, Susan Hepler Long has been involved in Goshen High School theatre productions for 31 years. She earned a master’s degree in art and a master’s degree in English from the University of Indianapolis. She has taught in Indianapolis public schools and in the Goshen Community School System, and has performed Mother Abbess in Sound of Music and Bloody Mary in South Pacific.

Her daughter, Jennie Sophia, is an actress who has performed in many regional theaters and is now based in Chicago. She has played Fontine in Les Miserables at the Druery Lane Oakbrook, as Fiona in Brigadoon at the Goodman Theater and has toured as Nellie in South Pacific.

Afternoon Sabbatical is an annual series that connects the community and college through on-campus programs and bus tours that draw on the expertise of Goshen College faculty and community members.
