Mennonite Youth Choir Festival
2 p.m., Goshen College Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall
Open to all students in grades 3 through 9 from any faith community in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Michigan, the Mennonite Youth Choir Festival will be held on the campus of Goshen College on Feb. 28 and March 1. It will culminate in an afternoon concert directed by Janeal Crabb Krehbiel in the college’s critically acclaimed 900-seat Sauder Concert Hall.

Goshen College Men’s Chorus Home Concert

The Goshen College Men’s Chorus, directed by Scott Hochstetler, will conclude their spring break tour to the New Orleans area with a “home concert” in Sauder Concert Hall.
Tickets: $7 adults, $5 seniors/students, available at the door one hour before the concert. GC faculty/staff/students free with valid ID.

Performing Arts Series: Silk Road Ensemble
7:30 p.m., Goshen College Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall
“A cornucopia of music ideas,” according to The Seattle Times, the Silk Road Ensemble unites performers and composers from more than 20 countries in a medley of cultures and art forms. Formed under the artistic direction of Yo-Yo Ma in 2000, the group is “a kind of roving musical laboratory without walls” (The Boston Globe).

Art Senior Show I reception
2-4 p.m., Goshen College Music Center’s Hershberger Art Gallery
The Senior Art Show I, open March 8–24, will display the art of Aaron Bontrager, Alma Miller, Alia Munley, Ida Short, Benjamin Thapa and Kate Yoder. An exhibit reception including refreshments will be held Sunday, March 8 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Afternoon Sabbatical: “Creating a Legacy,” lecture by Jep Hostetler and Glen E. Miller
1 p.m., Goshen College Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall
What will be my legacy? How will I be remembered? Hostetler, a retired medical educator, humorist and magician, and Miller, a retired medical doctor, administrator and author, will discuss ways to create a legacy through an intentional process of living. They will focus on how to emphasize personal gifts, priorities and dreams, and how to prepare for a graceful exit at the end of life.

Opera Scenes Concerts
7:30 p.m., Goshen College Music Center’s Rieth Recital Hall
Goshen College vocalists and members of the GC Opera Workshop will present two concerts of operatic scenes in Rieth Recital Hall. These scenes are minimally staged and dressed and will feature scenes from a wide variety of operas from differing times in music history.

International Student Club Coffeehouse dinner and concert

The annual International Student Club Coffeehouse features a dinner with cuisine from around the world at 5 p.m. in the Church-Chapel Fellowship Hall and a family-friendly international variety show at 7 p.m. in the Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall.

The Goshen College Choirs, directed by Dr. Debra Brubaker and Dr. Scott Hochstetler, will present Giuseppe Verdi’s masterful “Requiem” for choir and orchestra, with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, conducted by Artistic Director Andrew Constantine.

Reith Chamber Series: Spektral Concert

The Chicago-based Spektral String Quartet returns to Goshen College on Palm Sunday to perform Joseph Haydn’s “The Seven Last Words of Christ.” This gifted ensemble, already a favorite of Goshen audiences, is in residence at the University of Chicago and is quickly becoming known as one of Chicago’s premier string quartets. Spetrak’s performance of Haydn’s moving work in Sauder Concert Hall is certain to be a memorable one.
