Goshen College continues its Afternoon Sabbatical series with a Cuban meal at the International Luncheon with Dr. David Ostergren, director of the graduate program in environmental education at Goshen College.
In Cuba, citizens are guaranteed education, medical care and water. Additionally, the food grown in Cuba is high quality, grown with few pesticides and fertilizers. Yet not all Cuban citizens can enjoy it.
In his presentation, “Cuba: a Land of Paradox,” Dr. Ostergren, who has done extensive research on one of the most protected area systems in the world in Cuba, will share the changes he sees happening there.
Dr. Ostergren joined the team at Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center in 2008 where he serves as both administrator and teacher in the graduate program.
Dr. Ostergren received his bachelor’s of science (1982) and his master’s of education (1992) from University of Minnesota, his master’s of arts and doctoral degree in forest resources science both in 1997 from West Virginia University.
This Tuesday evening presentation will take place in the Goshen College Church-Chapel Fellowship Hall. The meal is $22 ($27 after Oct. 3). For registration, information or questions call 574-535-7565 or email aftsabb@goshen.edu.
