Broadcasting students bring home five national awards from 34 finalists
Goshen College broadcasting students won five national first-place awards from a record-setting 34 nominations at this year’s Intercollegiate Broadcasting System’s (IBS) Multimedia Conference on March 3.
Globe Radio and Globe TV students gathered with more than a thousand other college radio and television students from across the country at the 79th annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting System’s Multimedia Conference in New York City. Students from 91.1 The Globe, Goshen College Communication Department’s student run radio station, earned 34 national nominations, more than twice as many nominations as last year.
Awards Breakdown
Alyson Prigge, junior public relations major from Hamler, OH, won Best TV Social Media Director for her work with Globe TV.
Tanner Camp, a junior broadcasting major from Fremont, Indiana, accepted the award for Best Overall Sports Coverage on behalf of The Globe’s sports staff that includes Ben Cotton, a junior broadcasting major from Anderson, Indiana, and William Troyer.
William Troyer, a sophomore broadcasting major from Goshen, won a first place award in the Sports Play-by-Play Other category for his coverage of Goshen College Men’s Soccer.
Kadie Spoor, a sophomore broadcasting major from Valparaiso, Indiana, is a national champion in the Best Live Broadcast Promotional Event category.
Tabitha Immanuel, 2018 film production graduate, won a first place award for Best TV Station On-Air Promotion. Ben Hathaway, a sophomore film production major from Goshen, accepted the award on her behalf.
Fifteen Goshen College students, two faculty members and one professional staffer were named finalists for 34 awards, including the prestigious “Best College Station in the Nation” award for the ninth consecutive year. This is the largest number of nominations for Goshen College in this competition, which has seen its entries double each of the last three years. Those who were nominated represent the top three percent of the students who entered the competition.

About the Intercollegiate Broadcasting Awards
The Intercollegiate Broadcasting System is the oldest running collegiate broadcasting association in the United States. This year more than 115 schools of all sizes participated in the annual awards competition, garnering a record number of entries.
IBS honors excellence in programming, air personalities, public service efforts, and outstanding stations with the IBS College Media Awards.
