Goshen College named as a best NAIA school for student-athletes
Goshen College has been named one of the best National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) schools in the country for student-athletes, according to Next College Student Athlete (NCSA), the country’s largest college athletic recruiting network.
NCSA’s 2019 NCSA Power Rankings, an annual list of the top colleges and universities in the U.S. for student-athletes, ranked Goshen College 27th among 140 NAIA college athletic programs. Maple Leaf athletics was also recognized in the following areas:
- 9th in men’s volleyball

- 14th in women’s tennis
- 17th in softball
- 18th in women’s basketball
- 21st in men’s basketball
- 23rd in women’s track and field/cross country
- 30th in men’s soccer
- 32nd in women’s soccer
- 33rd in women’s volleyball
- 37th in men’s track/cross country
“Our coaches do a tremendous job of creating a first class experience for the young men and women,” said Harold Watson, athletic director. “We pride ourselves on being a total package - academics, athletics and service to our community, and that is indicative of our department having a number of high ranking teams.”
NCSA Power Rankings offer a comprehensive analysis of the best NCAA and NAIA schools across the country. Colleges and universities are ranked overall and broken out by division and sport into the top schools for 2019.
Unlike traditional power rankings which list schools based purely on athletic performance, the NCSA Power Rankings evaluate colleges and universities on a range of criteria that student-athletes find most important when considering potential schools including athletics, academics and, for the first time, affordability.
“Our research shows that student-athletes are more likely to find the right college when they consider a variety of factors,” said NCSA President Lisa Strasman. “Each year, the NCSA Power Rankings analyze schools based on the criteria athletes and families find most important, and this year, Goshen College stood out among all U.S. colleges and universities as one of the Best Schools in the U.S. for Student-Athletes.”
Since 2010, NCSA Power Rankings have recognized the Best Schools in the U.S. for Student-Athletes, evaluating colleges and universities on criteria that matters most to student-athletes and providing a valuable tool to families researching potential schools.
