Goshen College welcomes 37 new employees for 2024-25

Goshen College welcomed 37 new employees for the 2024-25 school year, some of whom began their duties earlier this year.

New teaching faculty:

Hilary Arroyo is an assistant professor of nursing. Arroyo received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University and a master of science nursing education from Ball State. Arroyo has worked at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Goshen Center for Cancer Care and Goshen Hospital. She comes to Goshen after working as a registered nurse at Oaklawn.


Deana Baker is an associate professor of biology. Baker is a 1986 Goshen College graduate, who also attended Eastern Mennonite University to obtain her bachelor’s degree in biology. A longtime pharmaceutical and biotechnology consultant, Baker earned master’s degrees both in science education (California State University) and in pharmacy (University of Florida). Most recently, she obtained a doctorate in health and human performance at Concordia University, then taught at Thomas University.


Amanda Borden is an assistant professor of public health. Borden earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Public Health from Indiana State University, where she most recently taught in the Department of Applied Health Sciences. She previously worked as a mental health technician and a nursing assistant.


Courtney Cotter is an assistant professor of social work. She received her bachelor’s degree in social work from Taylor University. After graduation, she first earned a Master of Social Work from the Ohio State University and then a Doctor of Social Work from the University of Kentucky. For the past four years, Cotter has worked as a mental health and substance use clinician at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.


Jorge Montenegro Martinez is an assistant professor of business. Montenegro Martinez earned his bachelor’s degree from Dr. José Matías Delgado University in El Salvador and his Master’s in Business Administration from Western Governors University. He has taught courses in English as a second language and Spanish as a second language at Goshen College since 2022. Before GC, he worked as a branch manager at PNC.


Jimin Seo is a visiting assistant professor of music. Seo earned her bachelor’s degree in conducting from Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, and followed that by earning three master’s degrees — in choral conducting, collaborative piano and orchestral conducting — from the University of Cincinnati. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Texas.


Steven Thalheimer is an assistant professor of education. He earned his undergraduate degree in English and history from Indiana University-Bloomington, a master’s degree in English from the University of Rochester, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Indiana State University. Thalheimer most recently worked as an educational consultant; before that, he was superintendent of Elkhart Community Schools where he was appointed by Governor Holcomb to the Indiana Governor’s Workforce Cabinet.


Amber Vos is an assistant professor of nursing. Vos earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Northern Illinois University, where she most recently worked coordinating the RN-B.S. program at NIU’s school of nursing. Vos also received a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Lewis University and is working on a doctorate at Northern Illinois University.


Danaé Wirth is an assistant professor of education. Wirth is a 2001 Goshen College graduate. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education before receiving a master’s in education from Purdue University and a master’s in zoology from Miami University (Ohio). Before her new role, Wirth worked as the accreditation coordinator for Goshen College and as an adjunct professor in the education department.


Tiffany Wyse-Fisher is a 2002 Goshen College graduate with a bachelor’s degree in art education. She earned a Master of Fine Art degree from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco with a focus in fine art photography. For the last 22 years, she has taught ceramics, sculpture and photography in multiple educational settings, including in community programs, colleges, middle schools and, most recently, at the high school level.


Eyob Zeleke is an assistant professor of information technology. Zeleke is a 2003 Goshen College graduate with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. He received a master’s degree in IT management from Indiana University-South Bend and, most recently, has worked as a software developer and a development engineer.
