At 113th Goshen College commencement, human rights activist encourages graduates to bring hope and compassion to a broken world
Goshen College's Class of 2011 received degrees on Sunday, May 1 after being challenged to have the courage to serve others by President James E. Brenneman and encouraged to bring hope and compassion to a broken world by 1969 Goshen College graduate Marjory M. Byler, a human rights activist and organizational consultant.

Quilts featuring fabrics from Senegal on display in new exhibit
Irene Bornman, of Goshen, brought pieces of Senegal back to Indiana with her when she returned from her nine-year stay in Senegal. Using locally acquired fabrics from markets in Senegal and Mali, Bornman made a variety of comforters and quilts, which will be on display in Goshen College's Good Library Gallery starting May 8 in the exhibit, "Senegal Fabric in Indiana Patchwork: The Quilts of Irene Bornman."
Muslim on a Mennonite campus
While differences between Christians and Muslims have caused significant global conflict, two Muslim international students - Mohammad Rasoulipour and Mohamed Meissara - are finding the Christian campus at Goshen College to be a place of peace, understanding and acceptance as they focus on commonalities.

Marjory Byler, a human rights activist and organizational consultant, will present a commencement address, titled "There is a crack in everything," at the 113th Goshen College commencement on Sunday, May 1 at 3 p.m. in the Roman Gingerich Recreation-Fitness Center.
Goshen College announces 2011-12 Performing Arts Series lineup
The 2011-12 season of the Goshen College Performing Arts Series will again bring extraordinary and top quality arts performances to the college, including Manhattan Transfer; Mary Chapin Carpenter; Carolina Chocolate Drops; Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg; Choral Masterpieces With Vance George, Toledo Symphony and GC Choirs; Mark O'Conner Hot Swing; and Cherish The Ladies. In addition, this year's lineup includes a family-friendly performance of Zoo Zoo by the innovative Imago Theater.
“Secret Millionaire” surprises Gwen ’75 and Gary Miller ’76
Gwen Birky Miller ’75 and her husband, Gary Miller ’76, got the surprise of their lives last year when a man who had introduced himself as a stock broker and documentary filmmaker later revealed that he was actually a “Secret Millionaire” from ABC’s television’s reality show and wanted to donate to the nonprofit program they help operate.
Lee E. Miller ’80: Studying brain signals to help patients
Lee E. Miller ’80 is leading cutting-edge research to restore lost limb movement no farther away than Chicago. Miller uses advanced surgically implanted electronics and signal processing systems with a goal of helping people regain mobility and independence after spinal cord injuries or amputations.
