Two Goshen College voice students earned top honors at a statewide singing competition on Saturday, Nov. 2. Rhianna Cockrell, a junior music major from Rileyville, Va., and Ben Ganger, a sophomore music major from Goshen, each won first place in their divisions at the annual National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Indiana state competition.
Goshen College’s radio station, 91.1 FM The Globe (WGCS), has received six finalist nominations in four categories by the Indiana Broadcasters Association (IBA) for the 26th Annual Spectrum Awards.
Goshen College has again been named one of the top 100 best values among all private liberal arts colleges by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance. This year, Goshen College was ranked 77th among liberal arts colleges, which places it second among Indiana liberal arts colleges.
The Goshen College Community School of the Arts is offering a new piano class beginning in late October for older adults who wish to expand their music making ability in a relaxed, fun setting.
The Goshen College Chamber Choir, directed by Associate Professor of Music Scott Hochstetler, will present two concerts in the Music Center’s Rieth Recital Hall on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 27 at 4 p.m.
The Goshen College worship team, Parables, will use music, personal stories and original drama to worship in congregations and other venues throughout the next year.
During Goshen College’s Homecoming Weekend 2013 on Oct. 4-6, the college will honor four exceptional alumni with awards for their commitment to the college’s core values.
Goshen College will be participating in the statewide College GO! Week, sponsored by Learn More Indiana. For the entire week, Goshen College will waive application fees, and on Friday, Sept. 26, the admissions team will participate in a “virtual fair” from 1-5 p.m. EDT.
Heavenly Voices, a play featuring stories of Mennonite women of color, will be coming to Goshen College on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 3 p.m.
