Students from the Goshen College English Department and Art Department won six literary magazine awards for the college’s literary journal, Red Cents at the Indiana Collegiate Press Association’s (ICPA) annual convention in Indianapolis on April 8.
Chrissy Kolaya, a poet and fiction writer, will present a reading on Thursday, May 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Goshen College Church-Chapel’s Koinonia Room. This event is free and open to the public.
Twenty-one Goshen College students received awards and The Record finished second in the “Newspaper of the Year” competition among Indiana colleges at the Indiana Collegiate Press Association’s annual convention in Indianapolis on April 8.
Goshen College will again offer English as a second language (ESL) classes to the Goshen community in June and July 2017 though the college’s Center for Intercultural and International Education (CIIE).
Goshen College students, professors and alumni were involved at every level, behind the scenes, coordinating events and showcasing their own work at the River Bend Film Festival in Goshen.
Goshen College President Jim Brenneman will deliver a farewell address on Friday, April 21, at 10 a.m. at College Mennonite Church, titled "Back to the Future: Reflections on Being GC's 16th President." A reception will follow. All are invited.
Interim leadership changes include Dr. Jo-Ann Brant assuming the role of interim vice president for academic affairs and academic dean for the remainder of the current academic year and for the 2017-18 year, and Deanna Risser continuing in her role as interim vice president for finance through the next academic year. Both positions are part of the college’s President’s Council.
On March 29-April 1, Goshen College history students recorded the stories of members of the Minority Ministries Council to be transcribed and held in the Mennonite Church USA Archives for future access.
Goshen College is co-sponsoring a conference titled “Shared Opportunity, Shared Success: Latinos, Higher Education, Indiana’s Future,” in conjunction with Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI), at the University of Notre Dame on April 13, 2017.
The Mennonite Historical Library (MHL) at Goshen College owns the world’s only surviving copy of the first printing, in 1564, of songs that eventually became the Ausbund, one of the first Anabaptist songbooks and the Protestant hymnal in longest continuous use — by the Old Order Amish.
