WGCS a finalist for Best College Radio Station in the Nation for fifth year in a row
Goshen College’s student run radio station, 91.1 FM The Globe, (WGCS), is in the running for the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System’s (IBS) “Best College Radio Station in the Nation” for a fifth year in a row, having won twice (2011 and 2013), the only station to claim the title more than once.

National, state radio awards keep rolling in for GC students and alumni
Goshen College radio students won first place in two categories and were named finalists in three other in the College Broadcasters, Inc. (CBI) National Student Radio Production Awards last weekend in Seattle. In addition, 91.1 FM The Globe (WGCS) was also named a Spectrum Award finalist by the Indiana Broadcasters Association (IBA) for Station of the Year and Best Promotional Campaign last week.
Student-created cookbook aids children in Peru
This summer, two students created a Peruvian cookbook, “Los Sabores del Peru,” to sell for charity.
Student documentary receives national Telly Award
FiveCore Media and the Goshen College Communication Department received a national bronze Telly Award for “Breaking Down Barriers: Journeys of the Apostle Paul,” a documentary filmed and produced by Goshen College students and faculty.
GC senior wins bi-national oratorical contest
For the second time in three years, a Goshen College student took first place in the bi-national intercollegiate C. Henry Smith Oratorical Contest sponsored by Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) U.S. Abby Deaton, a senior communication major from Indianapolis, won with her speech, “The Welcome Table: Discussing Goshen College’s Hiring Policy.”

Last month, Goshen College senior and FiveCore Media student producer Abby Deaton received a bronze Telly Award for a short documentary-style feature video titled “Made in Goshen.”
May term courses a ticket to study abroad
Six international courses will take students across the globe to Nepal, Kenya, Greece, Italy, China, Spain and Morocco – and that’s doesn’t even include the summer Study-Service Term (SST) units in Peru, Senegal and Nicaragua that begin in May. Many of these classes are interdisciplinary and open to all students regardless of year or major.
