Goshen College’s new All-Campus Band will perform alongside GC’s Lavender Jazz ensemble in a joint concert on Friday, Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will take place in the Goshen College Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall.
John Mishler, professor of art, and Sunday Mahaja, a senior art major from Lagos, Nigeria, each received two awards for their art at the 36th Elkhart Juried Regional Art Exhibition on Friday, Oct. 10. The exhibition will run through Dec. 7, 2014 at the Midwest Museum of American Art.

In his 1983 book Imagined Communities, Benedict Anderson, a political scientist, suggested that communities can sometimes form even though their members never encounter each other face-to-face. What matters is that members perceive themselves to be part of a group, joined by a mental image of the things they have in common.
Jeff Gundy, an award-winning writer on the cutting edge of poetry and creative nonfiction and a central figure in Mennonite literature, will give a presentation on “Poetry, the Sleeping King, and Creative Doubt” on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Goshen College Music Center’s Rieth Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception and book signing.
The music of the Grammy Award-winning Orpheus Chamber Orchestra will fill Goshen College’s Sauder Concert Hall on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. as part of the college’s Performing Arts Series. Acclaimed pianist Jonathan Biss will be the featured soloist for this event.
