Goshen College Symphony Orchestra to perform fall concert on Nov. 1
The Goshen College Symphony Orchestra (GCSO) will present its fall concert in Sauder Concert Hall on Friday, Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. The GCSO is an ensemble of Goshen College string, wind and percussion players, and is conducted by Christopher Fashun, assistant professor of music at the college.
Lyle Lovett to charm audience at Nov. 1 concert at Goshen College
Lyle Lovett will bring his Lone Star state charisma to charm the audience in a Performing Arts Series concert in the Goshen College Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m.
‘Heavenly Voices’ portrays stories of Mennonite women of color
A multicultural cast of female students, alums and faculty from Goshen College will present the play Heavenly Voices on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 6:30 p.m. at Waterford Mennonite Church in Goshen.
Musical performance will explore Mennonite stories from the Paraguayan Chaco
Goshen College will host a musical work titled “Paraguay Primeval,” a collection of stories and images by Carol Ann Weaver. Based on the extraordinary story of Mennonites moving to Paraguay from Canada in order to retain their own schools, and from Russia to flee the Stalinist regime, the show follows their attempt to find a new “Promised Land” in the uninviting Paraguayan Chaco. The show will take place in the Music Center's Rieth Recital Hall and is free and open to the public.
Goshen College Chamber Choir to perform Oct. 26, 27
The Goshen College Chamber Choir, directed by Associate Professor of Music Scott Hochstetler, will present two concerts in the Music Center’s Rieth Recital Hall on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 27 at 4 p.m.
GC Chamber Choir and St. Joseph Valley Camerata to present joint concert
Two local choral ensembles will unite under one conductor for a special choral concert. The Goshen College Chamber Choir will join with St. Joseph Valley Camerata, an area professional choir, for a concert on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 4 p.m. in the Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall.
Merry Lea’s Enchanted Forest is an educational and environmentally friendly Halloween alternative
Nocturnal animals will be out and about at Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center of Goshen College during the 24th annual Enchanted Forest event on Oct. 25 and 26 from 7-8:30 p.m. This child-friendly and environmentally friendly evening consists of a guided hike by the light of lanterns to meet and hear from friendly nighttime animals in their natural habitat.
Enchanted Forest and El Bosque Encantado offer children Halloween alternatives
For Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center of Goshen College, Halloween magic takes the form of talking animals, not spooks. On Oct. 24 and 25, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., staff and volunteers will don costumes and review animal facts for the 25th annual Enchanted Forest at Merry Lea’s Farmstead site.
Visiting artist Michael Coonrod to present solo piano recital at Goshen College
Visiting artist Michael Coonrod will present a solo piano recital in the Music Center’s Rieth Recital Hall on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014 at 7:30 p.m.
