The Voice Season 21 winners Girl Named Tom (which includes GC alums Caleb '18 and Josh Liechty '19) had a reason to celebrate on Tuesday night, and not just because it was one year since they won the show in 2021. After performing their song “One More Christmas” during the Season 22 finale, the track reached No. 1 on iTunes, along with their Christmas album.

I believe they have a foundation — the home they grew up in, the Ohio Mennonite world, Goshen College, diverse friends along the way — all of which they can lean upon. Their inspiration — to compose compelling tunes, to find just the right words, to blend voices, to mesh niceness with gritty, compassionate power — comes from within and beyond, and from the experiences of life.
Siblings Caleb ‘18, Joshua ‘19 and Bekah Liechty, known as the musical group Girl Named Tom and winners of season 21 of NBC’s “The Voice,” sat down with President Rebecca Stoltzfus before their sold-out October 2021 performance in the Goshen College Music Center to talk about their experience and rise to fame.
Mennonites all over the country have rallied behind the Liechty siblings as Girl Named Tom made their way through The Voice’s singing competition. Ken Nafziger '63, a professor emeritus of music at Eastern Mennonite University and music editor of the 1992 Hymnal: A Worship Book, said, “It is a matter of pride for the church. Of course, we don't talk about pride as Mennonites, but it is powerful that somebody from among us accomplished that.”
Girl Named Tom - winners of Season 21 of The Voice - have deep ties to Goshen College and many fans and supporters on campus.
Siblings Joshua '18 and Caleb '19 Liechty performed together and on their own on GC stages throughout their college experience. Now, they have joined their voices with their younger sister, Bekah, as "Girl Named Tom," competing on and WINNING season 21 of NBC's The Voice.

Following Girl Named Tom’s blind audition on NBC's The Voice, all four judges — Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Ariana Grande — turned their chairs while the siblings sang Crosby, Stills & Nash’s “Helplessly Hoping.”
