Auditions for Community School of the Arts choral and instrumental ensembles will be held in the Goshen College Music Center in August and September. Choral ensembles are open by audition for students in grades 3-12, and instrumental ensembles by audition for students in grades 7-12.
The Goshen College Community School of the Arts (CSA) is now accepting registrations for private music lessons, classes and ensembles for the fall 2014 semester. The registration deadline for all private lessons is Aug. 22, 2014. Lessons begin the week of August 25.
Goshen College music professor and violinist Solomia Soroka and pianist Arthur Greene will present a benefit recital on behalf of the people of Ukraine on Saturday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m. The recital will be held in the Goshen College Music Center’s Rieth Recital Hall.
For alumni and families of students who don’t live near Goshen, it can be pretty difficult to make it to concerts in the college’s Music Center. Now, would-be concertgoers can watch music department concerts from the comfort of their own home. With the help of the college’s Information Technology Services (ITS) and ITS Media, the Music Center has begun live streaming select music department concerts from Sauder Concert Hall.
The upbeat sounds of the Pink Martini orchestra will be heard in Goshen on Friday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m. for a Performing Art Series concert in the Goshen College Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall.
The Goshen College Music Together® program has spring classes in various locations now open for registration. The spring session begins in late March with weekly 45-minute family classes and “big kids” classes, bringing the joy of singing and benefits of music and movement to all participants. Free classes for infants up to eight months old are also available.
The Goshen College Women’s World Music Choir will spend spring break touring and performing in churches and schools throughout Pennsylvania from Feb. 23-27, with a home concert on Sunday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Goshen College Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall.
Music Together®, the national early childhood music and movement program developed in Princeton, N.J., is offering a three-day teacher training workshop at the Goshen College Music Center from Feb. 28 to March 2, 2014. The cost of the three-day workshop is $475.
Spring collaborations between the Music Center and Fort Wayne Philharmonic include Fort Wayne’s FREIMANN musicians presenting chamber music this Sunday, Jan. 26, at 4 p.m. in the Music Center’s Rieth Recital Hall, and the Philharmonic’s Performing Arts Series concert in the Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall on Friday, April 11.
The Goshen College Music Center will debut a new concert series featuring chamber music and organ concerts on GC’s Opus 41 pipe organ. The 2013-14 series will feature six concerts by outstanding chamber music ensembles and organists, plus a bonus concert and reception for series subscribers only.
