Celia Vasquez, who helped to establish Goshen College's SST program in Peru and served for more than a decade as a country coordinator, accompanying hundreds of students on their intercultural journey, died on June 21. She was 66 years old.
After moving to Goshen several years ago, Nayo Ulloa, Goshen College adjunct professor and professional Andean flute player, and his wife, Heather, have been finding ways to merge Latino culture into the broader community.
This summer, two students created a Peruvian cookbook, “Los Sabores del Peru,” to sell for charity.
It is a country known for Machu Picchu, llamas and descendants of Incan culture. Goshen College students will now have the opportunity to study Peru in-depth, and engage in service there.
