Orientation – Day 1 in Managua

Today was our first full day getting oriented to SST, Nica, and strengthening Spanish speaking skills. The day started off with a thunderstorm, the first day of rain as we near the rainy season…this brought a wonderful relief to the heat! But, the temp rose to a cool lower 90’s by mid-morning…and was quite sticky.

After lunch and a Nica cultural orientation, Maria led us on a short tour of where she went to University, which is several blocks from Casa San Juan. Then we divided into 3 groups for a couple of hours of “Spanish survival” skills as we prepare to meet our host families tomorrow.
