Study Week 2: January 22-26

Peru pilgrimage took us several hours north of Lima, to visit Caral, the oldest civilization in the Americas, dating back 5000 years.  After a night at a nature center by the ocean where we learned about Inca constellations, we traveled inland through lush fruit and vegetable farms. At Caral we climbed into the sandy hills to discover pyramids and an impressive archaeological project.

On the way back to Lima, we stopped along the highway to enjoy local watermelon, and then a roast chicken dinner.

Our 18th group member arrived in Peru this week and went to live with her host family.

In downtown Lima we visited the Santo Domingo Convent, climbing the bell tower.
