David Cortright is Director of Policy Studies at the Kroc Institute of International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame. He is also chair of the board of the Fourth Freedom Forum. Cortright has written or edited 17 books on international conflicts, particularly the role of sanctions as an effective strategy.
