Juana Bordas is an acclaimed author and speaker. She is president of Mestiza Leadership International in Denver, vice president of the board of the Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership and founder of Mi Casa Women’s Center.

Instead of a chapel service, this Friday will be a special convocation to launch Homecoming Weekend. Two alumni award winners will speak. Cristina Hernandez is receiving the Decade of Servant Leadership Award. She is a design and product development consultant in Kabul, Afghanistan. Nancy Chupp is one of the Culture for Service award winners. She is a public interest lawyer in Seattle, Washington.

Today’s chapel begins our annual Celebrate Service Day. Come and engage God and each other through prayer and singing before we go out to serve our local community.

Singing together as a faith community is a long tradition at Goshen College. Though we will engage a variety of singing styles as worship throughout the year, today’s chapel will help us explore “hymn singing” as a way to connect with God and each other.

Have you thought about how you wish to nurture your faith as a student while at GC? Bob Yoder, campus pastor, will offer some ways for students to tend to their faith formation. Local congregational pastors will also be on hand to meet with students.

Welcome to our first chapel of the year. We’ll explore our 2010-2011 Campus Ministries theme, “Transformed by Christ,” through singing, prayer, and listening to Tamara Shantz, assistant campus minister, preach.

President Brenneman will welcome the campus community and introduce the Core Values theme for the 2010-11 school year: Christ-centered.

This is our final chapel service of the school year. It will be led by the upcoming summer’s Ministry Inquiry Program students. These students will be spending their summers in various churches across the country. They will be blessing us off to our respective summer plans, as well as a farewell to those graduating.

Every musical tone contains harmonics–higher tones that are produced simultaneously by the voice or instrument. This convo will be interactive, with computer displays, singers, instruments and audience involvement.

Come hear Seniors Tim Blaum (Communication Major), Hannah D. Miller (Peace, Justice Conflict Studies Major), and Georgette Oduor (Nursing Major) share how their faith has been shaped while students at Goshen College.
