Student Senate elects representatives in the spring semester prior to the academic year. For example, leadership for the 2019-2020 academic year will be elected in spring 2019. Cabinet positions will be determined in the fall within the elected body. All students elected to Senate who do not receive a Cabinet position will fill the At-Large role. Incoming first year students have an opportunity to be elected to Senate in the fall of the academic year.
For 2019-2020, applications for Student Senate are available April 1st until April 12th. Elections will occur April 15th-19th.
There are 5 Cabinet positions:
President, Vice-president, Treasurer, Vice-president for Marketing, and Liaison for Student Organizations. For more detailed descriptions of each position, visit the Constitution link from the Student Senate homepage.
Students who will not be on campus one semester of the academic year may run as a ticket with someone who will be on campus the semester they are absent. For example, if John is going on SST in fall but Katie is going on SST in spring, they may run as one Student Senate ticket and fill the position. However, these tickets cannot hold the President position in cabinet. In these instances, both students on the ticket must fill out an election application but only submit one short answer response.
