Title IX Office
Goshen College’s Title IX Office ensures that our learning and working environment are safe from gender and sexual harassment, discrimination, and violence in many forms.
The role of Title IX Coordinator includes:
- Oversight of the implementation of the College’s Title IX Sexual Harassment and Assault policy,
- Coordination of the formal grievance process,
- Management of the selection, training, and supervision of the Sexual Misconduct Response Team (“SMRT”) of confidential resources, advisors, investigators, and hearing panel members.
- Intake of Title IX reports
- Implementation of supportive measures to stop, remediate, and prevent discrimination, harassment, and retaliation prohibited under this policy
- Receiving formal complaints
- Oversight of informal resolution processes, and
- Implementation of sanctions and remedies following from a formal grievance process.
The Title IX office works in conjunction with human resources on related employee policies. The human resources director oversees reports, supportive measures, and resolution processes involving employees and works with vice presidents to implement sanctions and remedies for employees under their supervision. The Title IX office also works with student life staff and campus safety on safety concerns, supportive measures, as well as bias and student conduct issues.
The vice president for academic affairs oversees the Title IX office and works with the vice president for communication and people strategies, and the vice president for student life as appellate officers.
Title IX Advisory Committee
The Title IX Office consults with an Advisory Committee that includes administrators and faculty engaged in providing resources and support related to gender and sexual misconduct.
Goshen College Confidential Resources
Accessing confidential resources does not require reporting details of the situation or incident, although you may report to the Title IX Coordinators or any GC employee at any time. If you have experienced a crime, you may always contact the Goshen Police or Campus Safety (574-535-7599). GC employees are available to assist you in contacting law enforcement or seeking medical help.
