For the past several years we have been decorating the large spruce tree beside the Union Building with lights. It has been a great centerpiece for our Christmas celebrations.
This year we decided to light up another tree, this time the one next to the Westlawn dining hall.
Two trees, each with 1250 lights, but very different in in energy consumption. The old incandescent lights consume over 6000 watts and the new LED lights about 100 watts. That’s over 98% less energy. This season the new LED lit tree will use 2160 fewer kilowatt hours of electricity. Now that’s everGREEN. That is what in the world we should all be doing. Merry Christmas.
