” Writing just gives you a way to be real, express yourself.” Those are the words of Anthony Anderson when he came to Goshen College and was interviewed by Write on Sports.
Mr. Anderson is a reporter for the Elkhart Truth who writes about basketball “mostly 99%” of the time for the paper. He gained his love for writing from his mother who wrote poetry and multiple books.
When he writes he does his best to be original. “I like doing things that are, like, off the routine.”
While thinking out of the box, Anthony also uses variety in his reports to keep the literature interesting and give it a “new” feeling.
Although writing is a very enjoyable hobby, and job for some, it can be hectic according to Mr. Anderson due to late hours, sometimes difficult topics, and berserk deadlines. “You don’t know what’s waiting for you,” said Anderson. With all this weight on his shoulders, Anthony maintains a solid career by sticking to his own advice and common sense.
“Accuracy and fairness are the two most important things,” said Anderson. Keeping the facts straight and having the story balanced are his top concerns and judging by where he is now, he’s doing exactly that.
