On July 9, 2014, WoS interviewed Angelo Di Carlo at the WNDU Studio. Di Carlo was born in the state of Pennsylvania, but now he is an American Sports Reporter for WNDU Channel 16.
Di Carlo said that up until the theme music starts, he continues to check his phone. He said that he checks the news to make sure he doesn’t miss anything important. He even takes a “selfie” and checks Twitter before the broadcast starts.
Sometimes things go a little crazy before the sports broadcast. During one World Cup game, when the US scored a goal within the first thirty seconds, Di Carlo had to get the news to the other sports caster that was on air. Everyone was very excited because of the sudden update on the game. “And the US just scored,” he imitated the event. He said he was jumping up and down in the background.
“(They were) looking at me like I’m insane.”
While behind the scenes, it’s more exciting to broadcast than watch the news.
