Today, WoS interviewed Gaby Romo here at the Goshen College Newcomer Center.
During the sections, Romo had to take a penalty kick. While standing there, she told herself, “Calm down, focus, and breathe.” Imagine that this last kick is your team’s last chance to win the tie between the two teams. It all comes down to this one, single kick. The game went double over time, and both of her calves had cramped.
But she still played her best. And, she SCORED!
Romo started to play soccer when she was only six years old. She has four brothers. They play a lot of soccer together. “I’m more aggressive… and I can take more yelling.” During her elementary years, she learned that the middle school had a soccer team. In middle school, she found out that the high school also has a soccer team. She wormed her way in and out of all the middle school and high school teams. Then she found out that the college had a soccer team too.
