Yesterday, July 8th, Write On Sports interviewed Bonzie Colson on the Notre Dame Campus.
Bonzie Colson spoke a great deal about his preparation for a game. To prepare, Colson will play basketball all week working on his three-pointers and guarding the other opponents. He will also work on different game-plans to make his team better. Colson will tell himself he can because “You never want to go on a court saying you can’t.” Colson will communicate with his team telling them what should happen on the court.
Colson has a unique preparation. He will start the night before the big game by lining up all the pillows on his bed and sleeping on them. Then he will listen to the same song, wear the same clothes, watch the same videos, warm up the same way, he will shake all his players hands, but last is Austin Torres. Finally Colson will ask his coach what socks he was wearing because he was always wearing fancy socks.
On March 28th, Colson’s team played against the Kentucky Wildcats in the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, Colson’s team were defeated by only two points. “Whenever I lose, I never want to get off the court,” Colson states. Even with all that preparation Colson still doesn’t want to get off the court, but losing is only developing them to the next level.
