In his freshman year of high school Eric McCollum was 5 foot 5 inches, but even though he was so short he did not give up the dream of becoming a pro basketball player. And by his senior year of high school Eric McCollum had grown to 6 foot 2 inches .
“God blessed me to make me six foot 2.”
After high school Eric decided to go to Goshen College, an NAIA college, four and half hours a way from Canton, Ohio, Eric’s home town. And at Goshen College in his senior year he made Sports Center top 10 plays with a soaring dunk over a Grace College player. He is also the GC all-time scoring leader.
After college McCollum took his talents to Israel, Greece, and now China where he lead the league in scoring and put up the record for most points in a game with 82.
“It wasn’t me it was God for sure,” McCollum said when asked about that game. After that game he was got a lot of NBA summer league invites, but says he is content playing in China. “Eighty percent China twenty percent Europe” when asked about where he will play basketball next year.
After basketball Eric wants to work for the NBA Players Association because he has experience with the kind of issues the players association deals. McCollum has a business degree and could use that instead. McCollum said that “I try to give glory to God in every thing I do”. McCollum is happy with what he is doing and hopes to play basketball till he is 35.
