On July 9th, Write on Sports got the chance to interview CBA basketball star Errick McCollum. We gathered in Newcomer Center at Goshen College to question him via FaceTime. Throughout our conversation, it was evident that McCollum is a very hard worker.
In his first year of high school, he was 5’2″ tall. He spoke on how he’s strived to get to his current height of 6’2″.
McCollum came to Goshen College on a scholarship. “From there, I just worked hard.” he says. During his time at the college, he worked relentlessly to better himself on the basketball court. “I’d be in a gym working hard between classes,” he said. While his friends were at parties, McCollum could usually be found in his room studying or in the gym practicing. He now shoots around 1,000 shots a day to improve.
This summer, McCollum plans to do some work to expand his resume. He realizes that basketball won’t last forever, and his goal is to play to the age of 35. Afterwards, he wants to get a normal job and to do this, he needs experience. McCollum will definitely work hard to make his life great after he retires.
Errick McCollum has already worked tirelessly to get himself to where he is today. Many people are anxious to know where this star on the court and in the classroom will end up next.
