This camp was so much fun. Last when I started I had thought writing would be boring but it’s actually a lot more fun than writing actual essays at school. You have the freedom to write about sports topic you enjoy and interview interesting people such as Errick McCollum and Justin Gillette. This camp allows you to experience what a professional job would feel like while still keeping it fun and interesting which is something I really enjoyed. After the really good lunch we play games for a long time for a break and I really liked.
We got to interview athletes and travel too. We got to travel to Notre Dame, WNDU station, and a Cubs baseball game. Writing spots stories are fun because they don’t have to be long or anything too direct, it’s can be short as long as the information gets across.
The video was my favorite thing by far.I loved filming and editing our videos and being in control of what happened-who was interviewed, what the story was, and how to start and end it. I think other kids should definitely try the camp because it is so much fun and filled with great activities.
Like I had said before, the camp isn’t like school at all. It’s shorter for one thing, and there’s just more freedom to choose what your stories will be about. The deadlines were stressful a bit but nothing was graded.
The teachers helped a ton too. Without the teachers and helpers our work wouldn’t be near as good as it is published.
If one thing had to change, I’d say we should make the time at the beginning to read the news paper shorter. perhaps just enough time to read one good and long article.
The food was so good. There was ice cream, a soda machine, a dessert bar, and really good main course foods too.
Overall this camp was so much fun and a great learning experience for everyone. Learning about writing wasn’t the only thing. It was also getting to know great people in the process.
