Tony Janzen was in Cambodia working with the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) from 2013-2016. Tony Janzen didn’t just work there. He had the opportunity to play professional soccer in a top division league for the tea called C-MAC or Cambodian Mine Action Center. He started out in a amateur league, where he played a pick-up game and there he was asked to play in a professional soccer in the top division.
Tony Janzen said that he really enjoyed at a different culture, but his opinion wasn’t like that at first. The first year he felt homesick and didn’t know their language, Khmer. There was some people that could speak English in capital city, so that helped him a little bit. He had no close relationships with the people there. “The opportunity to live in a place where you are not considered stupid but lower on the chain it give a clear perspective on how others live differently.”
After a while he then learned how the culture was like and began to build relationships in Cambodia.
