Vince Turner’s career was heavily impacted by not just the people in his life, but also the events that occurred before his broadcasting career. At a young age Turner grew up listening to broadcast on the radio, that’s when he became inspired to become a broadcaster later on in his life. One of his greatest impactors had to be his grandfather that told him he could achieve anything he put his mind to. Yet another inspiration was Vin Scully otherwise known as a famous broadcaster who made broadcasting not just about the facts, “He took that outline and filled it in and made that colorful.”
Before his official career as a broadcaster he served as a sportswriter at The Elkhart Truth, where he earned several awards, he also worked as vice president at Bashor Children’s home, an agency for serving abused and neglected and troubled youth.
Since then he found himself broadcasting as the sports director at WTRC, where he enjoyed handling play-by-plays at high school basketball and football games also Notre Dame basketball. Since then Turner has had more experiences with broadcasting.
