“I was in 5th grade,” Stephen Brooks said, talking about when he first wanted to be a sports journalist. Now Brooks is on his way to win the Hoosier State Press Association for best commentary. This all started as a dream for him and now it is a reality. Brooks said “It was a perfect match” to journalism, and that by the time Brooks was about 13 he wanted to write sports for a living.
Brooks has said he would like to pursue a job in college sports commentating. “My ideal job would be covering Notre Dame or Ohio State,” Brooks said. But he knows the amount of difficulty that comes with that kind of job. Brooks said, “It’s hard to jump right into that job”.
Brooks is the current sports editor with Goshen News. Brooks has said that “accuracy is the number one thing” and that he would rather be late than telling a false story. Brooks has stressed that being right is better than being the first person to get the story out. Brooks is a reporter with big goals that he is striving to achieve on his way to greatness.
