Toews is a Stair Climber. Toews in ranked NO. 47 in the country. Toews came and spoke to Write On Sports Campers about what he does.
Toevs is 54 years old! Tows started to climb stairs when he was in the eighth grade. Toews started to race up stairs competitively at the age of 45. Toews explained how the races are set up. Toevs said that there are about 4,000 people in each race. Each person goes individually. He said that there is about a 30 second gap in between each climber. When Toews is not climbing stairs, he is at Goshen College. He is the assistant director of institutional research and academic database manager.
Stair climbing races are fund raisers. Every cent that is made from stair climbing even Los Angles goes to the YMCA Community programs. In September, Toews will race up the US Bank tower which is located in Los Angeles. US Bank has 75 stories and total of 1,664 stairs.
Stair Racing in a very unfamiliar sport in the US. It is well known North Korea. Over 100 races are held annually across the US.
