Born September 12 1962, Bob Toews (Taze) is a stair climber. Write on Sports (WoS) interviewed him Monday July 17, 2017. Toews would climb stairs in 8th grade to get in shape and sometimes he would imagine going up tall buildings so that he wouldn’t get bored.
He has two children Ben and Sarah who are both adults. He has been married for 31 years his wife’s name is Brenda.
Toews has climbed One World Trade Center, Willis Tower and soon will climb the US Bank Tower in Los Angeles.
“I talked to a professor here on campus.” He told WoS reporters when asked how he found out about stair climbing his first race was in 2006, 11 years ago.. It took him about 20 minutes and 30 seconds to get to the 103rd floor in the Willis Tower also know as the SkyDeck the fastest climb to the SkyDeck is 13 minutes and 41 seconds. To practice Toews uses a StairMaster machine to practice a StairMaster is a machine that simulates stair climbing and doesn’t stop until you stop.
On September 22 of this year Toews will compete in the climb at the US Bank Tower against about 4000 other people.
