Today on July 16, 2018, Write On Sports and I interviewed Braxston Cave. Cave grew up in Mishawaka. In third grade, Cave was a big kid. He couldn’t play any other position because he was too big. He played baseball, basketball, golf, track, football, and other sports. In high school he played football, wrestling, and baseball. Eventually he focused just on playing football.
He came to Notre Dame to play football. His family and friends motivated him to play football. “I’m living my friends, family’s, and my dream,” he told us. He never gave up on football when he was playing. In 2011, Cave had a really bad foot injury. He had to get two screws into his foot because of the injury. He overcame that injury and continued to play football. Cave got to meet a lot of famous football players during the NFL.
Cave retired at 26 because his wife was getting ready to have their first child. If Caves’s daughter was not born, it is possible that he would still be playing football. Cave learned his weaknesses from 2009 to when he played in the NFL. His favorite highlight was beating USC at USC.
