On July 11, 2018, Write On Sports and I went to Notre Dame. Sammi Fisher and Kate O’Conner, both started soccer at five years old. Fisher watched her two older sisters play soccer when she was little. “I would kick the ball around while I was at my sisters games,” Fisher stated. Fisher is also a black belt in Tae-kwon-do.
Fisher and O’Conner played against each other in California. They disliked playing against each other, because they played similar positions. Fisher and O’Conner both wanted a change in their lives. They both lived in California and decided to moved to Indiana. Somehow, they ended up coming to the same college. Now they are good friends.
Fisher and O’Conner got nervous before the game sometimes. O’Conner told us “I hit the champion sign before I start the game or I won’t do good.” Fisher also told us, “My team and I dance before the game so we can get all of the nerves out.” Both of them gave us some good advice for the future. “It takes a good person to be a good student, and it takes a good student to be a good athlete,” O’Conner explained to us. Fisher also gave good advice. “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” Notre Dame is very lucky to have Fisher and O’Conner at their college.
