July 11, 2018, Write on Sports interviewed Zach Martin. We traveled to the University of Notre Dame, to talk with him. Zach Martin is a junior at Notre Dame and he is also a baseball pitcher at Noter Dame. Zach Martin just came out of an amazing season with 34 strike outs, 43 innings pitched, and 19 appearances. Zach also found himself with a cool focusing when he taps different parts of his body.
In high school Zach played for Plainfield North and earned himself three varsity badges for baseball. Zach was ranked twenty-fourth overall prospect in Illinois for right-handed pitcher. Zach also played club baseball for Cangelosi Black Sox. Zach helped Plainfield North to super sectionals in junior season, final year competing for high school.
Zach is hoping he can get an invitation to MLB combines. Zach also likes to go by this saying, “give it you’re best effort every single play.” Zach also said they put a lot of work in six days a week but it would be seven, if the NCAA would not allow practices on Sundays. Zach likes going to Notre dame because it is only two hours away from his house. Zach made his first career start against Saint Joseph in the Snowbird Classic and set a career high with 6 strikeouts.
Zach’s favorite breaking ball is his curveball, but it also depends on the day. Zack collected his first career save versus Pittsburgh. Zack first game he ever watched was the White Sox and he just started to love the game after.
