On July 19, 2018, Write on Sports interviewed Justin Crew. On April 23, 2018, Goshen College hired Crew as their new Women’s Head Soccer Coach. He had coached previously at University of South Carolina and Olivet Nazarene in Illinois, leading them to their first championship, and Coach Crew has the second highest soccer coaching degree in the United States.
Crew explained his teaching styles a bit. He doesn’t like to be the scary coach that yells a lot. In games, he tries to be calm. “In games, the more anxious I am, the more anxious the player’s will be,” Crew explained. When asked why he likes soccer, Crew said that soccer flows. With no time-outs, a coach doesn’t have much control over the game, especially compared to games like basketball.
Crew is excited and ready to lead his team to a win. He thinks that his team is talented and excited as well. Crew says that the team is not the popular to do well, but that they might be a surprise this year. He is also excited to play – and hopefully beat – Mount Vernon Nazarene University, who is in their division and where Crew went to college.
