Today, July 16th, Write On Sports interviewed Braxston Cave. He traveled from Lippert Components to the Newcomer Center to hold an interview. He played for Notre Dame Football and NFL. He played for the Browns, New England, and finished with the Lions. He is 28, 6’5”, and 249 pounds. You can say he is pretty big.
He was born in Mishawaka, Indiana. He played baseball, football, basketball, track, and golf. Football really came to him in high school because of his weight and height. He played for Penn High School. He was an offensive line. When he graduated high school he was down to three Universities, Notre Dame, Florida, and Michigan. He chose Notre Dame because of how close he lives to the University and for his academic.
During his time at Notre Dame he was playing football and was learning about psychology. In his freshman year he got injured and had wear a red shirt, which added an extra year to his career. He played in the Under Armor All-American Game. Also in college, his Freshman and Sophomore year he played 13 games but didn’t start, but in Junior and Senior he played 15 games and started in all of them. He said, “I just needed to find and work on my weaknesses. Coming out of high school thinking I was the best, but after working hard, I eventually reached my goal”.
After his NFL career playing for many teams and bouncing around all over the country, Braxston’s wife found out she was pregnant. As a family they decided they did not want to keep on moving around, so they made the hard decision and Braxston signed a retirement paper to the Falcons. He is happy that he made that decision. He now works for Lippert Components.
