On July 9, Write on Sports interviewed Jason Samuel, a sports broadcaster. We had several topics that we discussed, but one of the topics that stood out was the steps of being a sports broadcaster. “First to being a sports broadcaster is that you have to paint the picture in the listeners head. Make sure you care about your topic enough to listen to it because, if you don’t, then other people won’t either.”
Then the next step is that you have to be dependable, which means that even if your schedule it full, it is important to fit events in.
Another step is when you are interviewing a person you need to be prepared and your questions need to be short and direct. You also need to have follow up questions. You have to realize that you’re just there to tell the story, which is the main purpose of the job.
