Today, July 9th, Write on Sports interviewed Jason Samuel and Kyle Hufford. Both individuals discussed the importance of media and how broadcasting impacts sports listeners. Jason shared how important it is to connect to your audience. He shared how important it is to make sure the story is meaningful to your audience, that you always tell the truth, and that the information you are giving is factual. Kyle shared how important it is to present the media in multiple ways. You not only want them to be able to see the information visually, but you also want them to have the opportunity to read about it as well.
As the interview continued both Jason and Kyle discussed the different aspects of producing and broadcasting. Jason emphasized the importance of telling the truth, be factual when presenting information, questions should be short and direct, and always have main questions and follow up questions. As Kyle allowed us to explore the set of FiveCore Media, he explained, that when producing different segments they use an A, B, C and sometimes D depending on the length of the story. He also shared that todays media has a new idea of converging media. When working with his students he uses the acronym (ROPE) Record Once Publish Everywhere.
Both Jason and Kyle found it very important to leave the Write on Sports campers with a bit of advice. Jason believes that being available, dependable, and meeting deadlines is the most important advise for anyone who is interested in journalism or broadcasting. He also reminded Write on Sports campers that in a culture that tends to go negative, to make sure to present factual information. Kyle left the campers with the thought that any sports viewer will tolerate a poor video quality, but they will not tolerate poor audio. He emphasized the importance of making sure you are putting forth your best work at all times
