Today, July 9th 2019, Write on Sports interviewed Jason Samuel. Jason was very talkative for our interview. He started doing sports casting, but then went to teaching students. He has been doing radio for 31 years, and has been working in his current teaching job for 17 years. He gave us lots of good advice about sports casting.
Preparation is the most important thing to do when interviewing. One way to be ready for an interview is is by doing research of whoever you are interviewing, and having a set of questions ready. “Your questions should be short and direct and you should always have follow-up questions.”
Jason expressed how important is to ignore the negativity drawn towards you. “Negativity will bring attention,” he said. “You have to remember that these are people too. What do you want people to hear about you?” Jason expressed that phones are a new bully tool. You have to be careful how you use them.
Jason Samuel thinks that sports casting is a really cool job to do and he has been able to do really fun stuff with it. Out of all the games he has been to, his favorite one was South Bend vs. Valparaiso (Basketball).
