On July 10, 2019, Write on Sports had the privilege of interviewing Brennan Davis. He is one of the cubs top prospects and can play anywhere in the outfield. Right now he is batting around 300 and has 4 home runs with 22 RBI’s. When asked how he got into baseball he said: “I didn’t just get into it. When I was a kid I played every sport so I guess I just started playing and never stopped.” He pitched and played first before going to the outfield.
When asked if he wanted to play in the majors he said: “Yeah! I want to play in the majors. That’s everyone’s goal here, to go there someday.” His favorite MLB player is Lorenzo Cain. He tries to make his game like his and said he watched him a lot while growing up. Growing up in Chandler, Arizona, he said playing in South Bend is better because the community is more together and it isn’t as hot. He used to wake up at 12:00pm to go to work.
When asked how he prepares for games he said that he just thinks positive thoughts and his mom always sends something positive before the game and listens to that. In high school, he played basketball and baseball. He was good at both sports and when someone asked him how he chose baseball he said that instead of being good at two sports he wanted to be great at one sport, so he chose baseball instead of basketball and it worked out well for him because he is close to the major leagues. Brennan Davis is a great ballplayer and I believe he will be in the majors in a couple of years.
