On July 9, 2019, Write On Sports had the privilege of interviewing Jason Samuel from the Goshen College radio station. He has had his job for almost 17 years now and says that he loves his job. I asked him questions about sports teams and what he thought about them. When I asked how will the Phillies finish the year this year he said “They aren’t hitting the ball well right now so they will need to make some moves. Losing Andrew Mccutchen, and Odubel Herrera for the year hurts a lot. They have a shot for the wild card but they don’t have the team to win it all this year.” He also said, “The Braves and Dodgers made the moves they needed to win so they are the front runners to win the NL.”
Later in the interview, I asked him who he thought was the best international athlete playing in American sports and he said “Vladimir Guerrero Jr, comes to mind first. Last night he put on a show at the home run derby and was showing off his power. He is a tremendous player and has a great future ahead of him. You also have the Greek Freak in the NBA, who just came off an MVP year so they are many ways you could go.” Right now, I think the best international player playing in American sports is the Greek Freak because he helps his team in every aspect of the game. When I asked him how well he thinks Notre Dame football will hold up against a tough schedule he said: “I think it depends on how well Ian Book plays. If he is calm, cool, and collected then they can have a great season. Book will have to perform this year.”
When I asked him how he thinks Notre Dame basketball will do, he said: “Going to be tough but, I think they can make it to the tournament this year. It depends on how much the players have improve this year. They will have to win some tough games in November.” It was a great experience having him with us and I learned a lot from him. I hope to see him soon again. This is Elisha Rauch from Write On Sports.
