Today at Write on Sports (Wos) we interviewed the marathon runner Justin Gillette. Last year Gillette was having a great running season. However, this year that was not the case.
Gillette was running a few days after last year’s Wos interview when he felt a aching pain in his ankle and foot. He figured it was just a bruise so he kept on running. But the pain wasn’t going away. Soon doctors figured out Gillette was diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis which caused him to miss August and September. “Missing two months, the bank account starts going down.” said Gillette. Another reason he hustled back from his injury was because, as Gillette himself stated, “I’ve still got goals I’ve got to achieve.”
Five months later in February, Gillette’s injury flared up again and this time he had to have medical procedures to help him heal from his Plantar Fasciitis.
After his medical procedures Gillette returned to running and won seven races. Today he said that he was still planning on running another twenty races this year. “At the end of the day I want to say I did my job,” said Gillette. And if he keeps doing what he does he won’t have a problem. After all he is the “Marathon Man.”
