Goshen, IN resident Justin “Marathon Man” Gillette holds the title of 5th place in the world with most marathon victories. He has raced in about 30 states and plans to race in the last 20 or so left. When Gillette trains he runs roughly 24 miles a day. One year he ran around 140 miles a week which caused him to get Plantar Fasciitis, an injury in the heel, but he pressed through the pain. Although Gillette says, “I’ve always wanted to not work,” if he hadn’t become a runner he would have become a physical education teacher or a farmer.
Gillette is the father of two children who he enjoys running with: his son Miles, age 4 and his daughter Jasmine, age 1. The other day Jasmine gave Gillette a shower of kisses. Gillette says, “That is better than winning any race.”
